PTRI Introduces New Fund Raising Strategy To Support Penn State’s Center for Turfgrass Science

The Pennsylvania Turfgrass Research, Inc. has expanded the “Growing the Game” campaign by introducing an innovative way for supporters of Penn State’s Center for Turfgrass Science to invest in the future of the turfgrass industry. The exciting new PTRI raffle could also be personally rewarding with $15,000 going to the grand prize winner. There are ten additional cash prizes of $1000 or more, plus dozens of golf and outdoor related prizes. See the entire prize list at www.paturf.org.

In announcing the raffle, Jerred D. Golden, CGCS, chair of the PTRI Board of Trustees, said “each raffle ticket is a small investment with a potentially big payoff for both the winner and for the turfgrass industry.” He encouraged PTRI’s partners in the turfgrass industry to “spread the word about this great opportunity among your family, your friends, and everyone in your turfgrass realm.”

To make it really easy, tickets are available for purchase online at www.paturf.org. The winner doesn’t need to be present when the drawing takes place on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the Penn State Golf Turf Conference in State College. PTRI is also looking for volunteers willing to sell tickets in their club, community, and workplace. For more information on ticket purchases, volunteering to sell tickets, or raffle details contact PTRI by phone (717-580-1946) or by email (denise@heusergroup.com).

PTRI’s ongoing “Growing the Game” Campaign raises funds for Penn State’s world-renowned turfgrass research and education. The $1,000,000 campaign goal will create an endowment to support the Center for Turfgrass Science. The campaign involves special events like the raffle, as well as soliciting gifts and pledges. A broad volunteer network is seeking annual support from country clubs and their members, businesses and individuals associated with the turfgrass industry, Penn State alumni, from golfers, and from other people who enjoy lawns, athletic fields and environmentally friendly landscapes.

PTRI was established by the Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council (PTC), which has contributed more than $2,000,000 to support Penn State’s research since 1955. The Pennsylvania Turfgrass Research, Inc. is registered with the Pennsylvania Bureau of Charitable Organizations. The official registration and financial information of PTRI may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State by calling 800-732-0999. Registration does not imply endorsement.
