John A. Chassard, Director of Grounds at
the Lehigh Country Club, Allentown, PA,
will serve as president of the
Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council (PTC) for
2005, beginning January 1. Previously
vice-president, Chassard has served on
the board since 1993, and has been a
member of PTC since 1897.
Vice President will be

Chassard said he is
looking forward to increasing awareness
about the important research being done
at Penn State through the Penn State
Turfgrass Research Trust. “Our past
president kicked off the “Growing the

who benefits most from research – to be
part of the campaign.”
He added, “It is a whole
new direction and an exciting time for
PTC. I am happy to be a part of it.” A
1984 graduate of Penn State, Chassard
added that he looks to the Penn State
